If you are reading this, let me welcome you to our blog! It will be some time before the "Cat is out of the Bag", but at least you can catch up on where we've been. Today is day 34 of my (our) pregnancy and the second day of whoosieness. I was just bragging to Chris and my Doctor last week that I haven't had any morning sickness. Just hungry and peeing alot. That didn't last long. I'm hoping it's a temporary and very short term thing.
Before I get too far, I have to give credit to my sister-in-law Tracy. She's the one who said I needed to start a blog. Little did she know I would take her advice and start typing away.
Our journey has been a long one. We've gone through bigger challenges than either of us ever thought we would have to go through. We got pretty serious about 4 years ago. It took alot of praying, inner strength, hope and the miracle of medicine to get us where we are today. PREGNANT! I STILL can't believe it.
Our miracle happened on my 33rd Birthday (December 19th). For all you that thought I was weeping in the loss of another year, nope, I was getting knocked up! On January 1, 2008 we went in at 7:00 a.m. for a blood test and 2 LONG hours later we got word that it was positive! So what did we do? Went to Target and bought books....many books. Holy cow! Reality is here and we better start to study up. Both of us have nieces and nephews, but it's the case where you return them to their rightful owners. Now WE'RE the rightful owners.
Last week I had my first pregnancy ultrasound. And we saw....a dot. Yes, a dot! But that's our baby. Tomorrow is the second ultrasound. I don't know if we will hear the heartbeat or not. All new to us ya know.
I've only gained a couple of pounds, but my waist is getting larger. Today I had to officially retire one of my normal pair of pants. I tried wearing them unbuttoned today, but my zipper was even tight. What a sight!
At this time no one else knows. We are still debating on when to tell everyone. It's so hard for us, mostly me right now. I've pulled every excuse in the book so far to not go out with people. We are so social, and it usually involves a sporting event or food and more than likely a drink. So sorry to my friends who I had to turn down or say I wasn't feeling good. I hope you will forgive me now.
Chris came up with our blog name. Harnly Dogs to Diapers Which is so true. I'm pretty sure our families were giving up on us. It just takes some people more time than others to grow up and decide that they are mature enough to be responsible for a child. Holy Cow. I HOPE we are!
