March has come and gone....

Here we are at the last day of March. And it's 30 some degrees out, wind blowing and cloudy. But the sun always shines inside our house lately. Zoey is quite the character. Her smile is contagious. We have been having so much fun playing with her at night. Watching her grow, roll and her personality shine through.

I've included some recent photos of her. I cherish every moment I get to spend with her. It is truly a blessing. Trying to document all the "first's" is a daunting challenge. I do it because I don't want to forget a thing. I think as she gets older she will be quite the social butterfly. She just loves to watch people and play with her friends at school. I pray we get some sunny warm weather soon, so we can rediscover the outside with Zoey. Plus we need to go to the zoo. I bought a membership and am anxious to use it!!

Our Easter Bunny has arrived.

Spring has arrived. But I'm not sure the weather is really springish. I do know that our Easter Bunny has arrived.

Zoey has just been the sparkle in my day lately. Her smile is so big and she is one person who actually lets me know that I am needed. She is growing so fast. She is now 7 months old. Just cannot believe it. She's wearing 9-12 month clothes.

This Easter we will be heading back to Seward to spend time with our families. I'm sure there will be an Easter egg hunt. Next year she'll be able to run around and pick them up herself.

Our jogging stroller is catching dust this week. Too cold to take her out. Plus she is fighting off the start of another ear infection and a bad cough.

The last couple of nights she's been waking up in the middle of the night crying. And of course I go and check on her and she and her bed are soaked. Not sure what this little being drank before she went to bed. Chris didn't quite understand why she was crying. I explained, wouldn't you be upset if you're trying to sleep and your pj's and bed are wet! Boys.

Busy, busy, busy....

We have been an on the go family. By the time I get through the evening and get Zoey to bed, I'm exhausted and ready for bed myself. A couple of weeks ago we had her 6 month check up. She is doing awesome. She had a major growth spurt. Zoey is 27" long which is the 86th percentile for her age. Wow! Not sure where this amazon baby came from. She weighed 16 lbs. 10oz.

A week before her check up Zoey spiked a fever a couple of times, so we took her in to see the doctor. Double ear infection! Our first. We caught it early. It was a 5 on a scale of 10. Over the weekend then she developed a cough, so we got the nebulizer. And to top off all of that. She cut her first two teeth. Poor little thing. At least she had it all at once and got it over with!

We've settled into a nightly routine which helps with my anxiety. 5:30 veggies & fruit, 8:00 cereal & fruit, bath, 9:00 bottle and bedtime!

I finally got a jogging stroller. So we've been taking advantage of the nice weather and getting outside and to some different parks. Today we went for a quick run at Chalco. Will be alot nicer when everything turns green.

Last Friday I took Zoey to work with me for awhile. We visited some of my friends there. Attached is a photo of Jennifer with Zoey. I think Jennifer needs a baby girl. She was so funny with her. And of course Zoey took right to her.

As most of you know, I am loosing my job at the end of May. So I thought I would take advantage of the little time I have left at the hospital to share the biggest joy in my life right now. I truly appreciate every minute I get to spend with her.

We're GREEN!

I know that this blog has really been centered primarily around our little Zoey from the start, but I thought I would share a little about just Chris and I. Along with being new parents we are both very focused on our careers. It is my goal / challenge to show Zoey that in life you can achieve whatever you want. In the "design / construction" world that Chris and I live in the idea of sustainability is becoming more mainstream. Since January both Chris and I have been studying for the LEED exam. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. At first when we both opened our books we were discouraged, preparing for failure and just frustrated. However, we plugged right along anyway. The exam will be changing soon, so we wanted to cash in on the NOW. Why we BOTH decided to do this at the same time, while working full time and caring for Zoey is beyond my comprehension. We took turns at nights and on weekends. Got help from family and re-kindled our test anxiety, coffee/pop drinkin, note takin, headphone wearing college days. Last Monday Chris took his exam and PASSED! And on Wednesday I took mine and PASSED! We are both still in a zone that it's not real. Kind of like those dreams I still have every once in awhile that I didn't graduate from UNL. Someday we both hope to be able to work on a LEED project and put our new knowledge to work. Now we aren't quite sure what to do with our spare time. I hope spring comes soon so we can get outside!
