1 Year Photos
We had Zoey's 1 year photos taken in Lincoln by Sarah Pfeiffer Photography. We went to the Haymarket. It was a quick session and good thing because her attention span is not very long!Zoey's 1st Birthday

Two Weeks Away from 1!
Two weeks from today is Zoey's official 1st birthday party. I cannot believe that a year ago I was really pregnant, working a ton, on my swollen kankles and trying to ignore the feeling that she was going to fall out on her head. I truly enjoyed my entire pregnancy, but at the end it wasn't so glamorus. We are having Zoey's 1st birthday party next Saturday with family. I've always loved formal party invitations, and I figured everyone needed an updated picture. So here is the final result. I found a company online called Scrapless Press. www.scraplesspress.com They were AWESOME to work with and reasonably priced. When the invites came they were the photo invite mounted to cardstock. Definitely exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them! We are having a rocker theme. Chris and I are adopting the Mikos family tradition and will be making Zoey's cake. So stay tuned for pictures of that!I've decided that I'm going to try and post more helpful products, etc. on my blog to help any new mom's out there. I'm also thinking of starting a blog for my business. Just to write about design ideas, products and cool stuff. We'll see. Another project!!

Just an Update
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
July has come and is almost gone.
4th of July seemed like it was just yesterday. We spent the whole weekend in Seward. Here is a picture of Zoey in her star dress. What a cutie. It was rainy and cool for the 4th, which is highly unusual. We took in a few traditional things with Zoey, but next year she'll be interested more. She really liked the parade. We watched it with Chris' parent's and my sister Tammy and her family. It was a long weekend of old traditions but with a new perspective now that we have Zoey.Wednesday, June 24, 2009
First Father's Day
This is actually how Chris' first Father's Day ended. We had a fun filled day. Chris got to sleep in, he cooked us breakfast (I offered). Then Zoey decided to take a morning nap. So we joined her. We all 3 got a full 2 hour nap!! It was the most awesome gift. Zoey gave her dad a stainless mug with her picture on it. I know Chris will cherish it forever.
We decided to go check out the riverfront and the Nebraska / Iowa pedestrian bridge. Here is a photo of the bridge we walked. I thought it was alot longer, but it's not bad.

Here's Zoey and I actually on the bridge. It was really hot, but there was a nice bridge so it was tolerable.

At the base of bridge entry there is a water play area. They have fountains that go up and down and areas that have jumping water. It was definitely a hot attraction. We took Zoey in there. She loved getting wet and cooling off.

After our riverwalk trip we stopped down in the Old Market and had some drinks and food. Zoey brought her own snacks and ate them all! She is transitioning to regular food now. Many people told me how easy it would be once she got to this stage. Liars! It has been major stress for me. I want her to eat healthy, but to make things a little more mushy takes a creative intuition that I obviously don't have. I'm pretty sure I've failed at this more than I've succeeded. But I guess she's not starving and that's the most important part!

First Trip to a Lake
These pictures are not in the best order, but oh well. Last weekend we went out to our friends the Mumford's lake lot. The lake was having a fireworks show and they had friends / family out to grill, swim and hang out. Fortunately it was overcast and not super hot. We had some rain clouds come over us, so Zoey and I went and hung out in the Durango. Chris came to check on us and Zoey was hangin out the window. She's such a hoot!
This is one of the latest photos of Zoey. She is crawling and pulling herself up on things, on the verge of walking. So I bought her this little buggy thing. It doubles as a walker. She had some much fun figuring it all out yesterday. She can go backwards on her own, but manages to run over her own toes. Please disregard the crazy hair. She just had dinner and I had to wipe all the food off her head. She was just full of smiles!
So last Saturday Zoey was wiped out and had to take a nap. For some reason she looked REALLY tall to me, like she grew overnight. So I got out the tape measure. She measured up around 29". Seems pretty tall to me. My little baby is growing so fast!
With this heat wave we have been splishin and splashin at night. Here is Zoey in her cutest bikini. Thanks Holly & Brett! She is just adorable in this! We got her a little blow up baby pool with an awning. Only problem is, is that she likes to crawl out of it. Today I got her this water play pad that squirts water up. The water was freezing for her tonight. But she still loved it! I would really like to find someone who teaches baby swim lessons in their home. I'd like to get her started in the pool right away.

A Month!

I cannot believe that I haven't blogged in almost a whole month. I'm probably going to say alot that most people already know, but here it goes anyway. I finished up my job at BryanLGH on May 22nd. It was a very awkward day. I managed to maintain my composer until I went to say goodbye to my friends in the West Facilities Department. I made many friends at the hospital. But the facilities guys (and Jennifer) were like extended family. They always worked along side me and did appreciate my profession. Sometimes they would give me a hard time, but we had a respect for each other. My most fondest memory was the gift that Mac gave me when I had Zoey. His mom made a beautiful blanket. Zoey loves it, and it really is so special to me. I'll cherish it forever.
After I found out about loosing my job back in February I immediately began looking for a job in Omaha. I had several interviews, great response to my portfolio, but was a victim of our economy. Unfortunately our industry experienced layoffs and hiring freezes. With the support of Chris I decided to start my own consulting business. I'm up and running and got my first big job last week!! I'm so excited. Hopefully this week I got another small job. I've made many contacts and scheduled several meetings. I've been fortunate to of maintained so many good working relationships with people from my past. Because of my new venture I keep Zoey home with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She still attends school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is a good balance for all of us!
So, if you or someone you know needs help from an Interior Designer, let me know!!
I'm going to post several blogs tonight with pictures to catch everyone up! Keep reading!

Next Step.......Crawling
Since it's summertime we've been deciding on which "bigger" toys are suited for her. We bought a blow up pool with an awning. Swing. And I'm looking at wagons. Too many choices and toys!
More Activities
It seems we've sorta been on the go. Weekends that we planned to be home, something comes up. We love getting out of the house and exploring with Zoey. This past weekend we went to Skye's (Chris nephew) baseball games in Lincoln. After the game on Sunday we went to the horse races. Dan and a bunch of friends were there. Zoey saw horses for the first time. Again the silent observer.
On Saturday Zoey woke up at her normal time 6:30, and by 7:30 she decided she needed another cat nap. She loves this pillow we have. She'll curl up on it and konk out. This particular day she drooled all over the pillow. I think that is a characteristic she got from me.
A few weekends ago, Chris' parent's stopped by to see us. We sat outside and Zoey sat in her new swing. She loves her swing. But you have to make sure and constantly keep her moving. The first picture Grandpa Harnly was talking about her piggies. Her toes are just the most adorable thing. They are little stubbies. She's into waving and clapping. And occasionally we can get her to laugh out of control.
1st Trip to the Zoo
We made our first trip to Henry Doorly Zoo this spring. There was a Friday where it was 85 degrees, so we stole daddy from work and headed out to see the animals.
Zoey was very quiet and observant. Daddy loved pointing things out to her. Our favorite was the penguins.
We didn't hit everything and plan to make several trips back this summer.
The zoo was testing out the new Skyfari. Not sure I'll be riding on it anytime soon. A little too open and high for me right now. My palms are sweating just thinking about it!
Updates
I can't believe it's been over a month since I've posted anything. At this age she is changing so fast. So I'll do my best today to catch everyone up. Last month April was I think a pretty normal month. Zoey really loves anything with music. She has bongos, maracas and a music table. We usually have music or videos playing in the background. Not sure what her favorite genre is yet though.
She has also become a fan of newspapers and magazines. If she's crabby, give her a magazine and she's perfectly content. Grandpa Harnly taught her this. We've been steering away from the newspapers after the first go around turned her hands black!
